Friends of Alaska National Wildlife Refuges is a group of people who love Alaska’s wild places. We work to support and protect the 16 national wildlife refuges across the state. Our goal is to make sure these special lands stay healthy and open for everyone to enjoy, now and in the future. We do this by educating others, standing up for the refuges, and offering help where it’s needed. We believe that when people understand and care about these places, they’ll want to keep them safe too.

Mission: Promote the stewardship of Alaska’s unique national wildlife refuges through education, support, and advocacy

Vision: All Americans support Alaska’s national wildlife refuges

We focus on three things to keep Alaska’s refuges strong:

  • Education: We share what makes Alaska’s refuges unique through tours, events, and activities. Our aim is to help everyone discover the wonders of these wild places and understand why they matter.

  • Advocacy: We speak up for Alaska’s refuges. By working with local communities and leaders, we help ensure these lands stay protected for years to come.

  • Support: We lend a hand wherever it’s needed, from volunteer projects to raising funds. We work closely with communities and refuge managers to keep Alaska’s refuges thriving.

Our work is about making a real difference, one refuge at a time.

There are many ways to get involved and make a difference:
