2018 marks the 50th Anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. In celebration, this year’s show seeks to connect the public with the significance and history of Wild and Scenic River designation, especially within national wildlife refuges in Alaska. The show strives to link how clean, intact watersheds benefit the overall health of communities. Attendees of the show and viewers of the exhibited artwork will form an emotional connection to wildlife refuges and wild rivers through the impacts of art and storytelling. Most attendees of the Art in the Arctic Art Show have never been to a refuge – artists will bring the refuges to them through their art.
