| Number of Volunteers Needed | Unlimited |
| Description | This is an exciting new project that will involve Alaska Native groups, native plants experts and invasive species biologists among others.
The goal is to turn existing planting beds around the Visitor Center into a demonstration native plant garden.
The first May 13 session will include plant ID and also outside work pulling invasive weeds and removing rocks from planting beds around the Visitor Center.
The project will be ongoing all summer with field work and garden maintenance.
Part of the new project will be going into the field and identifying areas where certain plants native to the area grow and recording the coordinates. They want to eventually bring those plants in to the visitor center garden area. |
| Skills Needed | Gardening experience or knowledge of native plants is good but not required. |
| Materials Needed | Bring your own gloves although the refuge probably has some. |
