| Description | Selawik NWR needs volunteers who would be willing to spend a few hours each day helping in our headquarters office in Kotzebue. We are short staffed and need help with answering phones, checking the mail, tidying the office, some paperwork and logistics (shuttling cars and keys around). In return for volunteering daily, we can offer lodging (private room in a shared house or apartment). We would like people to spend a minimum of 2 weeks. Depending on the individual\'s interest and skills, they may be able to assist with maintenance, outreach, or other tasks if desired. Travel to and from Kotzebue is not provided. However, a roundtrip ticket between Anchorage and Kotzebue can cost as little as 10,000 Alaska Airlines miles. This is a great opportunity for volunteers to assist the refuge, and to explore Kotzebue and nearby areas. |
