DescriptionAlaska\'s largest wildlife festival brings you birds, boats, art, experts and all the charm of Homer. Friends co-sponsors the Festival with the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge. It is our biggest project. This sign up is to help with actual events working directly for the refuge. Help is needed at shorebird viewing stations to help spot and identify birds, on bird walks, to hang artwork, for teen and junior birder events, as a door monitor for talks, at the migratory bird table to hand out bird friendly information and many other tasks. You can see all these jobs and sign up for the ones that you want on their Sign Up Genius. This is different from the Friends outreach jobs listed separately. The Shorebird Festival program is now on-line here. and registration opens March 22. Figure out what events you want to do and then give back by volunteering for events and for Friends Outreach. Make this your year to be part of the Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival and Friends greatest outreach opportunity.
Skills NeededDepends on the task: bird ID experience for viewing stations, working with children for any of the Junior Birder events, ability to walk over uneven ground for assisting on bird walks,
