| Description | Alaska\'s largest wildlife festival brings you birds, boats, art, experts and all the charm of Homer. Friends co-sponsors the Festival with the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge. It is our biggest project and takes a lot of hands. We will need volunteers in two hour shifts for working the Friends Outreach table Wednesday through Sunday in the Alaska Maritime Refuge Visitor Center (Islands & Ocean ) explaining Friends and refuges and recruiting new members; and 2) selling T shirts and doing outreach at the high school before and after the keynote speaker Saturday evening. See also the Birders Coffee sign up (Sunday morning of Festival - also a Friends event) and Festival event sign up - helping with Festival events such as bird guides, room monitors, etc. Go to our Sign Up Genius to select a time slot that works for you. We will have people at this table Wednesday through Sunday morning. Please fill out a volunteer application if you can take a shift at the Outreach Table. Festival registration opens March 22 at noon and some events and boat trips sell out immediately. So make your plans now to come to the Festival and give back by taking some volunteer shifts. |
