DescriptionThe Refuge is refreshing rat monitoring stations on St George Island. Volunteers would build, install and record locations for each trapping station. St. George is a remote island where adverse weather and unexpected travel delays are common. So, flexibility is critical. However, this is a great opportunity to experience one of the Pribilof Islands. Housing will be provided on St. George Island for the duration of the project. However, food is not provided and volunteers will need to bring most of their food as there are limited grocery shopping opportunities on St. George. Travel to and from St. George Island will not be provided. Dates are dependent on funding and other field contingencies. Pending funding, the project will occur either in June or September/October.
Skills NeededExperience with small mammal trapping is desirable. Volunteers must be able to lift 30lbs, work in adverse weather, and have a flexible schedule.
