DescriptionKodiak Refuge requests one volunteer to help staff the visitor center and assist with environmental education programs and events between March 15th and April 27th, 2024. The volunteer must work at least 20 hours per week to qualify for free shared housing in our bunkhouse. Volunteers may qualify for $20/day food reimbursement if they work 40 hours per week (this is not a requirement of the volunteer position). Kodiak Refuge will provide roundtrip airfare from Anchorage to Kodiak for the volunteer. Volunteer will have access to a government vehicle for work purposes and limited personal use; volunteer must have a valid drivers license and be willing to complete defensive driving training. Duties will include welcoming visitors (including cruise ship passengers), answering the phone, operating a cash register, leading a weekly youth environmental education program, assisting with visitor center events/programs, and other duties as assigned. Volunteers who are not available for the duration of the opportunity are still encouraged to apply.
