| Description | Kodiak Refuge is looking for a volunteer to help with our bat monitoring program. The Refuge will be carrying out multiple outreach opportunities which include 2 presentations, emergence counts, and night captures/banding. Volunteer would assist with visitor’s experience and direction. They would also help set up bat mist nest and facilitate bat processing.
There is the potential for housing at Refuge Headquarters (bunkhouse style housing). Volunteer will be responsible for their travel to Kodiak. |
| Skills Needed | No experience necessary but must be comfortable being around bats and people. Volunteers must physically be capable of the following tasks: walking on soft and uneven ground; lifting their arms over their head (to position netting); being outside in rainy conditions. Must be comfortable speaking and directing the public, including kids |
