Project NameIslands & Ocean Visitor Center 20th Anniversary Planning
Project Number416
LocationHomer
DatesOngoing until December
Durationvariable
Number of Volunteers Needed1-2
DescriptionThe Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge\'s Islands & Ocean Visitor Center in Homer has been introducing visitors and school children to the wonders of seabirds and the refuge\'s off-shore world of islands for 20 years. It is time to celebrate the success of Islands & Ocean which is important to the Homer community, the visiting public and the refuge. Help shape what that celebration will look like. The refuge\'s immediate need is for one or two Friends to serve on the planning committee for the year-long series of events the refuge is contemplating. This would initially involve brainstorming events with the refuge staff and then developing the events. Later, Friends will recruit from our membership, volunteers to help staff and carry out the events but this initial ask is for planning involvement. You must be a Friends member to represent Friends on the planning team. Submit a volunteer application.
Skills NeededSome background in event planning and familiarity with Islands & Ocean would be helpful.
