| Description | This is a citizen science project you do at home on your own computer. You will be analyzing videos shot from caribou radio collars with built in cameras. The caribou\'s cameras recorded 10 second videos every 20 minutes all summer long. The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, USGS Alaska Science Center, ADFG, and the Canadians are collaborating on this research project to determine caribou behaviors and demographics. The purpose of the study is to investigate the resilience of the herd in the face of climate change and potential oil drilling, You will be the observer who will document caribou data from the tapes. You will go through 2 to 3 hours of training to become a skilled observer capable of producing consistent data. You can work at your own pace and your own schedule but must commit at least a few hours a week and no less than 20 hours total to the project. This project may go on for several years with more video data being collected every summer. However, to start off, the scientists only want one to three committed observers.
