DescriptionCONTACT THE REFUGE DIRECTLY ABOUT NOV. 2020. The refuge is seeking 2-3 volunteers who can do Facilities Maintenance, Community Outreach, and Survey Assistance Dates are negotiable within the following time-frames (March to April) or (November to December) Projects would include assistance with the following: Rehabilitating the headquarters bunkhouse (interior painting, exterior pressure washing, debris removal, grounds maintenance) Preparing the visitor center for the summer season (cleaning and polishing exhibits, grounds maintenance, steam cleaning furniture) Environmental Education programs for youth and multi-age groups Accompanying biologists on eBird surveys and potential injured bird rescues The refuge would provide housing and a vehicle, so the cost of the project would include transportation to Kodiak and food for the volunteers.
Skills NeededLight to moderate maintenance skills, attention to detail, ability to perform light to moderate physical labor, and communication skills. Volunteers should also be willing to get a little dirty.

Other Outreach OpportunitiesThis would also allow volunteers the opportunity to promote the Friends group to the community through public presentations, radio and/or newspaper interviews, and welcoming visitors at the information desk.
