DescriptionCamp Cook needed! Henshaw Creek Culture and Science Camp is a remote camp that occurs alongside an active fish weir. Henshaw Creek is a tributary off the Koyukuk River and is a one hour boat ride from Allakaket, AK. The camp connects youth in grades 5-10 with Kanuti NWR. We are seeking one volunteer to serve as the camp cook. The selected volunteer will be responsible for cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner for approximately 15-20 people for the duration of the camp. All meals will be planned with the camp coordinator. Meal examples include: sausage and eggs for breakfast, deli sandwiches for lunch, and spaghetti and salad for dinner. The volunteer will camp in their own tent. A shared outhouse is available. No shower facilities are available. Conditions can be buggy and hot and the camp is located within bear country.
Skills NeededAbility to cook in a remote camp, breakfast, lunch, dinner for 15-20 people. Volunteer must enjoy being in the outdoors, enjoy cooking for large quantities, and have multitasking and time management skills. Please detail your skills and experience in the application.
