| Description | Goals, Objectives, Importance to Conservation
Camp Goonzhii (meaning wisdom and knowledge in Gwich’in) has been held in Arctic Village by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for 13 years. The three-day camp aims to expose students to both old and new forms of knowledge. This camp addresses Goal 9 of the Refuge: Refuge staff provides outreach information to distant audiences, individuals who enter the Refuge, and people in gateway communities, to enhance their understanding, appreciation, and stewardship of Refuge lands and resources. |
| Skills Needed | Experience working or teaching in native communities, ability to work with all ages, and a flexible attitude toward last minute changes in agenda due to weather, subsistence needs, and other challenges. |
