DescriptionMany of you have called and emailed asking what the status is out in Galena as a result of the devastating record-setting flood and if there's anything you can do to help. fine replica watches About 300 of the 500 residents were evacuated out of town (including many of our employees and families) during the flooding event. Most are not being allowed back in until it's safe to do so. The folks who are returning are working to restore services, cleaning, repairing and rebuilding. It'll be a long haul before it's all back to normal, if it'll ever be "normal" again. If you're a Facebook user, you can read all about it and view pictures under the "Galena Flood Relief" or " All of our gov't owned homes, the office and the shop had flood damage....some more severe than others. We got a team in this week to help Kenton out with the initial work to get wet insulation and sheetrock out of the homes so that things can dry out to avoid mold issues. But, there's still the office and shop and tons of clean up, and then in a few weeks or so, rebuilding. Immediate Needs: We're looking for 5 volunteers who want to help with clean up and don't mind working in pretty dirty conditions. No specialized carpentry or electrical skills, etc are needed at this time. The refuge's bunkhouse is inside the levy and so was unharmed....we've got an agreement set up with AFS to provide meals in their cafeteria (which was also protected by the levy system). We're working on securing a charter plane to leave out of Anchorage on Tuesday, June 11. We'd like for this volunteer crew to stay out for a 10 days, returning back to Anchorage on Friday, June 21. We'll repeat this again as needed with other dates to follow.
