DescriptionSurvey many lakes on swiss replica watches You will use a canoe and a special rake to collect the plants and bag them for disposal by refuge staff. You may be asked to bag samples of all aquatic plants in the lake, so that they may be identified by staff. Refuge staff will teach you what to do, what to look for and everything you need to know to successfully complete your week of work. You will be provided housing in the Kenai NWR Bunkhouse and an allowance for food.
Skills NeededVolunteers must have the ability to paddle a canoe and collect aquatic plants while in the canoe. A small rowboat may also be available for those more comfortable in that. They must have completed Bear Awareness Training and Bear Less-Lethal Deterrents Training and Firearms Safety Training prior to the project. These trainings are given in Soldotna, Anchorage, Homer and Fairbanks. Firearms safety required ONLY if you want to take a firearm with you. Knowledge of aquatic plants and elodea is NOT required. You will be prepared for the project by refuge staff after you report for duty the first day. Volunteers must be able to work independently each day in various temperatures and weather, and be prepared for mosquitos!
