DescriptionWork with USFWS to assist with other 50th exhibits in Alaska during 2010, e.g., all the state fairs, AFN, outdoor shows, etc;
Skills NeededHELPER/OUTREACH- Assist in the set-up and clean-up od various display materials, conduct education activities, discuss the celebration with the public, sell Friends promotional items where appropriate.
Education TopicsThe celebration will promote public understanding and appreciation for the Arctic Refuge and Refuge System through products and events for internal and external audiences. Messages will: 1) Inspire Americans’ pride in “treasured landscapes”; 2) Celebrate a milestone of conservation history; 3) Restore appreciation for values of Arctic Refuge; 4) Show Arctic Refuge as a living laboratory to understand effects of climate change; 5) Promote appreciation of missions of the Refuge System and the US Fish and Wildlife Service; 6) Renew Americans’ commitment to volunteerism; 7) Honor conservation pioneers; and 8) Initiate a new era of conservation.
