Description “Refuges on the Air” Amateur Radio Special Event Station. The Amateur Radio Community in Alaska will hold this “Special Event Station” during Refuge Week October 11-17,2010. Making radio contacts throughout the nation and the world, enlightening the public about Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge and our National Wildlife Refuges, commitment to our Nations wild places and wild things.
Skills Needed1-Organizer/Outreach= This organizer will plan with refuge staff, to host event(s)speakers, program or reception during “Refuge Week” will need to be able to create QSL Cards, Certificates of Contact and other graphic design assignments, 4-Helper-Outreach/Educators, Assist with set-up, clean-up, conducting programs and educational activities for “Refuge Week”. 1-Speciality Amateur Radio Special Event Organizer= This organizer will work with the Amateur Radio Community, Friends Volunteer Coordinator, Organizer/Outreach Coordinator and the Refuge staff to set-up the Radio Stations, qualify Amateur Radio Operators, locate Amateur Radio Stations, coordinate advertising efforts for the Special Event Station, and clean up after the event. This person must hold a valid Amateur Radio License. 4 or more-Speciality Helpers=Must hold valid Amateur Radio Licenses, will help with the operation of the Special Event Radio Stations, help with set-up and clean-up.
