DescriptionThe Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge is seeking two volunteers to assist with seabird population counts on the Pribilof Islands. Volunteers will support Refuge technicians in conducting surveys on St. George or St. Paul Island, helping monitor critical seabird populations.
Skills NeededObtain ATV/UTV and FWS driver certification. Ability to hike 12+ miles carrying 30lb pack on uneven terrain; ATV/UTV; identify and count 6 seabird species accurately; record data.
Materials NeededThe Refuge will provide required training, Housing, Food, Clothing, & Equipment. Volunteers must obtain ATV/UTV and FWS driver certification. Note: Project dates are flexible based on seabird phenology and limited travel options.
