DescriptionKodiak National Wildlife Refuge is seeking volunteers to support their visitor services program during January through April 2026. The primary duties include:
-Perform all duties associated with operating the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge
Visitor Center, including but not limited to opening and closing procedures, staffing the information desk, and operating the cooperating association retail store register.
-Staff the visitor center information desk and provide information and orientation services regarding public lands and wildlife dependent recreational opportunities in Kodiak, AK and on Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge.
-Support programs and special events, such as monthly First Friday Community Art Walks, at the refuge visitor center.
-FWS volunteer uniform provided.
Skills NeededCustomer service, communication, visitor engagement. Defensive Driving (8 hour online course required to operate Government vehicle while on site)
Materials NeededThe Refuge will provide required training, Housing, Clothing, & Equipment.
