DescriptionTetlin National Wildlife Refuge (TNWR) encompasses 377,167 ha west of the US-Canada border and south of the Alaska Highway, thanwatchus.org replica watches bordering it for the first 65 miles. In the last 50 years, there has been a marked increase of anthropogenic disturbance and traffic along this border. The Alaska Highway corridor is a conduit for the spread of invasive species into Alaska and onto the Refuge. Past exploratory and control surveys indicate that invasive plants occur frequently along the highway, and extend up to 0.5 km in from highway and creek intersections. Tetlin is organizing a coordinated weed pull of invasive plants at point sources along the AK highway where it borders the refuge. This event will try to involve partners and volunteers from replica watches other agencies, and businesses and individuals around the community, to help with the event. This will be a 1-2 day event with a briefing on the importance of controlling invasives and how to identify them on the first evening. The second day will see volunteers organized into teams and sent out to pull weeds. There will be competitions and prizes for motivation, and the day will culminate with an appreciation BBQ.
