DescriptionSail Away to the Aleutians" will be the theme of an open house aboard the M/V Tiglax in the Homer Boat Harbor on October 5. This event will celebrate 100 years of the Aleutian Islands as a Wildlife Refuge. The Aleutian Islands Reserve was created by President Taft in 1913. Several hundred people are expected to tour the ship over a 3 hour period. Each main room in the ship will feature some aspect of the Aleutians with hands on activities and information. In addition, a "field camp" will be set up at the head of the dock and amateur radio operators will be running a special event station at that site. Volunteers will be needed to run activity stations, greet and guide Swiss Replica Watches visitors, operate a Friends booth and help with set up and take down. Accommodations may be available in the bunkhouse for out of town volunteers. All refuge staff will be involved in this event but lots of help will be needed.
Skills NeededA good attitude and ability to deal with the public (all ages) are the most important skills required. A general knowledge of Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, the Aluetian Islands and Friends is helpful
