DescriptionVolunteer will assist in leading community bird walks in Kotzebue in cooperation with Selawik Refuge and National Park Service staff. This is the 6th year of this project. The outings omega replica watches typically last two hours, and are attended by 5-25 people. Staff advertise, organize, and arrange transportation for the outings. The volunteer helps to spot and identify birds and assists in educating participants about birds and birding. Volunteer may be asked to contribute Air Miles to cover travel costs.
Skills NeededThe volunteer must be able to identify common birds of northwest Alaska; enjoy working with the public, including children; be comfortable in chilly, damp, and/or snowy arctic conditions; and be flexible, resilient, and culturally-sensitive.
