DescriptionThe moose check station is located at the mouth of the Nowitna River. They generally open the check station toward the end of August and have at least 2 people present thru the end of September. They would ask for commitments of 7 to 14 days but are recommending no more than 7-10 days (can get a bit slow/boring at times unless you like to read and bring plenty of books.) Volunteers would need to bring personal gear only. Tents, food, and other equipment will be provided. Knowledge of moose hunting/regulations is desirable but not required.
Skills NeededAbility to be in a remote location for 10 days with slow times in between checking out moose hunters. Knowledge of moose hunting and regs desirable but not required. Be able to do some outreach with the hunters about our organization and distribute Friends pamphlets.
