Description * Help develop curricula and activities that support Yukon Flats NWR goals with Yukon Flats school districts * Participate in the development of a Refuge Education strategy * Assist with classroom presentations and refuge sponsored science culture and career camps for youth * Attend community meetings and Give presentations about Friends to local villages to raise awareness and recruit rural members Provided by the Refuge: Camp food and lodging in the refuge bunkhouse at Fort Yukon, transportation from Fairbanks rt to Fort Yukon and other villages near the Refuge
Skills Needed * Experience developing curricula and age-appropriate classroom presentations and activities that are correlated with state and district standards * Experience teaching or working with children in a classroom or camp setting * Basic knowledge or experience with wildlife, plants, nature, hunting, fishing, conservation practices, etc. * Experience giving presentations in a community setting * An awareness of cultural differences and an interest in fostering cross-cultural communication, respect, and understanding * Catalogue photos, organizing Refuge Env. Ed. library,, other tasks, pending the outcome of Education Strategy meeting.
