Description | Work with USFWS to assist with other 50th exhibits in Alaska during 2010, e.g., all the state fairs, AFN, outdoor shows, etc; |
Skills Needed | HELPER/OUTREACH- Assist in the set-up and clean-up od various display materials, conduct education activities, discuss the celebration with the public, sell Friends promotional items where appropriate. |
Education Topics | The celebration will promote public understanding and appreciation for the Arctic Refuge and Refuge System through products and events for internal and external audiences. Messages will: 1) Inspire Americans’ pride in “treasured landscapes”; 2) Celebrate a milestone of conservation history;
3) Restore appreciation for values of Arctic Refuge; 4) Show Arctic Refuge as a living laboratory to understand effects of climate change; 5) Promote appreciation of missions of the Refuge System and the US Fish and Wildlife Service; 6) Renew Americans’ commitment to volunteerism; 7) Honor conservation pioneers; and 8) Initiate a new era of conservation.
