Friends will assist USF&W staff in organizing a Homer Chamber of Commerce �Chamber Mixer� for Alaska Maritime NWR�s Centennial Photo Exhibit and Celebration of five years at Islands and Ocean Visitor Center.

Friends will plan and arrange catering for the mixer. Friends will promote the refuges and the Friends organization while hosting the event.

Homer area members are encouraged to help out in various ways. This is a good opportunity for members to meet each other and the USF&W office staff, as well as learn more about the refuges and programs. Call Betty Siegel (907) 235-1598 or email betty.siegel@alaska.net to volunteer.

Sitka: June 27-July 1 (3 Volunteers needed)

Friends will provide a reception for an Alaska Maritime Refuge Photo Exhibit at Centennial Hall and assist with presentations by Debbie Corbett and Leslie Slater. Volunteers will help USF&W plan and organize the events, deal with logistics, promote the Friends organization and recruit new members.

Friends� volunteers will assist with Boat Tours to St. Lazaria Island, again promoting the refuge and Friends organization.

Transportation, housing, food, and a vehicle in Sitka will be provided by Friends and USF&W.

Members who are knowledgeable about Alaska National Wildlife Refuges in general and Alaska Maritime NWR in particular, who have organizational skills, enjoy meeting the public, and are able to promote and recruit Friends of Alaska NWRs are encouraged to apply.

Unalaska/Dutch Harbor: August 29-September 1 (FILLED) (local volunteers needed plus 1 other Friends member)

Friends will plan and organize a reception at the Grand Aleutian and assist with outreach and other events still in the planning stage. Friends will work with USF&W staff as needed.

Transportation for one, plus food and housing will be paid by Friends.

Anchorage: October 2 (Anchorage area Volunteers needed)

Friends will assist USF&W staff in planning, organizing, and setting up at Wendy Williamson Auditorium for the opening of the Alaska Maritime NWR and Yukon Delta NWR�s Centennial Photo Exhibit and October 2 reception.

Friends will help plan and arrange catering for the reception.

Friends will promote the refuges and the Friends organization while hosting the event.

All Anchorage area members are encouraged to apply and help out in various ways. This is a good opportunity for Anchorage members to meet each other and the USF&W Regional office staff, as well as learn more about the refuges and programs.

Transportation, food, and lodging will be provided by Friends and USF&W.
